Private conversation in the woods - copied into archive

Glorion takes Key's hand and squeezes it tightly. Seeing her turn away he motions ahead of the group to a clearing where the mist seems to have lightened. "Come, I have something to show you." As they travel through the mist it seems to envelop them for a brief time, before fading away completely into a gorgeous clearing. In the middle of the clearing stands one ancient, gnarled oak tree proud and alone. Glorion lets go of Keyleth's hand and places his weapons at the edge of the clearing before striding towards the great oak. In Elvish, he begins to speak softly as he approaches.

"Great mother, who gives light and life to our people. We thank you for providing us safe passage as we walk your sacred paths. We come to offer gifts and seek your blessing as we pass through. Soon we will leave your nurturing boughs for darker lands but we always remember your loving warmth." He reaches up to his neck and he removes the holy symbol of Corellon Larethian and lays it at the base of the great tree. He then motions for Keyleth to come over and takes a deep breath before speaking. "I do not want you to think of this as an imposition and I don't either. However I am not happy with the way things turned out in the capitol. You deserve better. I will say my heart was long ago promised to another long ago but I will likely never see her again and it is a love that was not meant to be. I wish there could have been better timing for this however it seems fate waits for no one...."

Glorion drops to one knee and reaches out to take Key's hand. "Keyleth. You would do me great honor, and indeed my bring light to my heart if you would consent to wed me in truth rather than just in name. In the light of the great mother who brings life to the forest, I ask you. Will you do me the honor of being my wife? "

"Rabbit? We are close friends but I had not thought beyond that..." Glorion shakes his head. "No, you and I are close friends as well. Our hands have been forced together by circumstance, but I would not have it remain so. I am not asking for your heart, not yet. And if you choose not ever. But while there will be obligations placed on you for the sake of my family, I intend to honor my obligations to you as well. You are a good friend Keyleth, and you have stood by my side when many would have left. I am simply asking you to accept my promise that I will always remain by yours as well. There will be no-one else. Not for me. Of course, I would never ask you to sacrifice your own freedoms." He pauses for a long moment, tilting his head as if listening for something. "I have seen far too many arranged marriages end up sad, bitter, loveless affairs. I will not subject a close friend to that. You don't have to answer me now. Just think on this.

Glorion takes Key's hand and stands, looking towards the great oak tree for several moments in silence before answering. "Complete honesty. Honesty is something that should be second nature for our people who claim to exemplify the virtues. Even so there are things I have kept hidden from everyone, even my family. Especially my family. I told you my heart was promised to another long ago but I did not say who or why. My family believes I was lost in the Underdark for a time, and that was not entirely untrue. During one of my first operations within the Court of Honor I was part of a team that journeyed into the Underdark to ascertain why the monsters of the deep were coming to the surface more often. We were were unprepared. I... this is a story I should share with the rest of the group, especially Rabbit. I accept your conditions. I believe I can hear others approaching. Perhaps we should return to the group before they needlessly worry themselves?"
