Rabbit giggles and there is almost a young feminine hint to it, almost a childhood reaction as she thinks back.
"There were over 712 Court Etiquette rules alone growing up in my mother's house, not counting the laws of the city and the Underdark. I was the rebellious child, I never could get them right. My sisters on the other hand were experts.”
She hesitates as she remembers.
"Sadly the knowledge of and more importantly the practice of politics and court rules benefited my sisters mightily, much to my pain later in life."
She smiles at Luke and Key again, a small laugh escaping her throat.
"Sobhan has changed and lessened the rules greatly for me. The Red Silken Glove has a lot of rules since the founders and those that run it are from the east. He has worked with me, and been able to convince them that I am the thug in his entourage."
She hesitates momentarily realizing that made Sobhan look bad.
"That isn't bad. He knows I have a temper problem and I asked for it since it gets me out of having to do many of their rituals and politics, and keeps me in a spot to watch his back when needed. It is amazing that people don't watch the servants."

Key listens to Rabbit then looks back to Luke. “Your barking up the wrong tree here too Im afraid. I never really payed much attention to politics and rules of the court. Im from a house that is way down at the bottom of the totem pole in rank, and as a result I wasn’t exposed to much of that sort of thing.” She looks over to Glorian where he’s meditating and sighs. “I guess I should have paid a bit morw attention hey.” She lets out a bit of a nervous laugh.

"Maybe, what you need is the realization that you really don't need all those rules. If you play by the rules, you are often playing a rigged game. The people that make the rules are the people that have the power. By design rule sets protect those that don't really need them. Structural etiquette and court rules are no different. You absolutely have the choice to adhere, or opt not to play, and do things sideways. The be rule players are those that know the rules well, but use that knowledge to refuse to play," Luke says.

Rabbit nods at Key and Luke's words.
"Sadly Key, there are no lowborn houses in our world, if you stay lowborn you become slaves eventually.”
She turns to Luke
"You are partially right. It seems in most societies you are better to avoid politics. In the cities of my people politics is everywhere and if you don't follow they cast you out at best, enslave you or sacrifice you. It is hard for our people to leave, we are hated in the Underdark, we are hated on the surface and most of my people don't have exposure to the surface.”
She hesitates as she remembers.
"In a way I am fortunate. As a handmaiden I was in charge of a lot of raids both in the Underdark and the surface world. This allowed me to see the surface world different then most my people. I regret what I did, but I learned things that have definitely helped me survive up here."
She looks at Luke questioningly.
"How can you be a cleric though, priests and priestess might have the power, but they have to follow the rules even closer don't they? So you think they would grudgingly accept drow?"

Key pauses for a moment to think. “So as a cleric, your powers are granted by the god or goddess you follow correct? If that is the case, shouldn’t you simply be able to make a vow to your chosen diety in order to have said power bestowed?” She blinks a few times and looks to Luke for an answer.

Luke nods to Rabbit, and says, "One of the perks of being lowborn, is there are far less in the way of societal rules and expectations."
He then smiles at Key, and says, "Yes. All Clerics are granted power by a diety of some sort. The shape of that powers and the expectations of use are dependent on the religion in questions. However, not just any believer can be a cleric. There are philosophical debates on this. Does the diety chose those that are already magically capable for the position of cleric, or does it take a specific ind of faith? In my case, Sekhment chose me. I did not know who she was, when her stray cats led me as a teenager to the Sekmet temple in Kokand. Stray cats often lead me to where I need to be, because Sekmet has that kind of relationship to me. Yet, there are others that follow Sekmet that are not granted clerical power. I do not know why, and philosophical debate aside, I am not sure anyone will. as that is all up to the gods. Personally, I think the gods like people that are already capable, such as myself. Tieflings are all up in the magical business before you add religion." He smiles.

Te'Teh drags her eyes away from Jack and looks over at Luke.
“The cats made it clear I am a no-go for spells, at least at this point.”
She shrugs, no real look of disappointment on her face.
“She is probably right, I would be a horrible priestess.”

Rabbit lays her head back against Luke's shoulder, seemingly making herself at home.
"Maybe when this settles down you will take me to your temple. I miss some elements of religion, I didn't think I would, and I definitely don't miss most of the rituals to her, but there does feel something is lacking."
She looks over at Key,
"Although if you need help with a caravan or protecting someone, I think Sobhan will be able to work my schedule around. My oath is flexible when it comes to defending people who need help."

Key smiles brightly at Rabbit. “I would only ask for help in the most dire need. But you are always welcome if you feel moved to join.” Key’s head swivels around the thrown room as if checking for possible danger. Finding none she looks back to her companions.
“I think Im going to do some light meditating while we still have the tome to do so. Good evening family.” She smiles warmly, stands and strides back over to the other side of the fire. She settlodown back to back with Glorian, wrists on her knees eyes closed.

"See, you have options. Key's order has a good mission, and you are always welcome at Sekmet's temple. (Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!)," Luke says.
"You never know, Te'Teh, maybe you just need time, or maybe those are not the skills that the cat covets in you," Luke says.
He leans back, and making himself comfortable, as his eyes close.
