The yard is loud with the clacking of wooden weapons. Monks and aspirants spar together across the open ground. The monastery itself sits a few miles outside Kokand, large walls protecting the monks now, as they have done for generations.
The voice if Iliara, the SubPrioress for this Monastery carries across the yard as she directs individuals in their practice with weapons.

Key walks onto the training yard and pauses a moment taking in everything around her. All the tension in her body drains away in the familiar surroundings. She spots SubPrioress Iliara and walks over to stand next to, but about a half a step behind the woman. She places her arms behind her back and waits patiently for the SubPrioress to complete her lesson.

Iliara's eyes glance off of Key and within a few minutes she has directed those practicing to spar among themselves. Iliara shifts her weight and walks past Key, motioning with her hand for the monk to follow her. As she is walking into the monastery itself Key can hear her ask.
"What can I do for you sister?"

Key falls into step with the other woman. “I have questions about a place I have visited recently, if you could help me understand what has happened to this place I would greatly appreciate it.” Key looks to the SubPrioress with worry in her eyes. “My companions and I intend to go back and make things right if we are able.”

Iliara watches Key as she speaks as they both head into a quiet garden off of the training grounds. She looks interested as Key continued to speak.
"What place are you referring to sister? Is it somewhere we have fought or defended the travelers?"

“It was originally a Temple to Gusi. When we got there the doors were sealed by magic and it looked as though the temple and the space around it was under contention. Several Gods seem to be fighting for control of the temple and the surrounding area.” She pauses thinking for a moment. She looks over at the other woman. “As far as I know we haven’t ever been there in my lifetime at least. I thought that there may be something in the histories? I must admit that weapons practice has always been a bigger focus for me, maybe someone is telling me I need to change that.” She blushes as she admits that last part. She waits patiently for the SubPrioresses response.

Iliara purses her lips and she continues walking, her gaze sweeps the garden as she thinks.
"I am not familiar with this Temple of Gusi. However, that doesn't mean we haven't heard of it, perhaps by another name. What religions are fighting over it? Are we familiar with those, and are there any priests or abbots from those religions around?"

Key walks for a moment with her head bowed. She lifts her head looking forward as she speaks. “The original deity was Itus, the little we have figured out is that at some point Nephthys started to take it over. Now it is contested land between Nephthys and Dunatis. The land for miles around is empty. There was a fight thee but no bodies were left behind. It felt like the land was caught in a loop. It’s quite unsettling.” She shakes her head to clear it and looks over to the woman next to her.

Iliara stops at a swath of flowers, lost in thought for a few moments.
"I don't have much offhand to tell you, this is one of the few times that a religious monastery might be more beneficial."
Iliara stops at a swath of flowers, lost in thought for a few moments.
"What I do know is that Itus is a god I might have followed if he was still alive. There was some sort of dispute and he was slain by his human followers. It was supposed to be a pretty horrific event, one that drove the remnants of the House of Coal back to Shard Castle in the city before the darkness that befell the castle."
Iliara looks at Key and shrugs lightly.
"I know nothing of this Nephthys. They sound like they are part of the Khemia pantheon, and the only goddess I know from that pantheon is Sekhmet. Dunatis is a god of the mountains and mountain fortresses, but mostly is worshipped by hermits. He has no real church and most of his worshippers live far north. I couldn't think of why he would care about a temple, unless it is some sort of planar battle. Tell me more about the temple."

Key listens intently, then takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly. She looks down and closes her eyes in concentration. “It was sealed shut when we got there. All the windows and doors had some sort of magic laced wax around them and the front doors had a delicate chain holding them closed. When we went inside there was a proficy written in blood above the altar. It said something about the devourer becoming an infernal prince and a Mockery. There are tunnels beneath the actual temple that we are exploring in hopes of finding more clues as to what has gone on there.” Key looks up “Im not sure what else I can say other than the place feels horrible.”

Iliara raises an eyebrow.
"So its not only an abandoned temple, your group had to break into a temple that is warded."
Iliara gets lost in thought for a few moments.
"Did your team break the seal or did you get in without setting it off? Most of the time seals like that are to keep something in and I would be reluctant to leave that place without knowing if something walked out behind you."
Iliara pats Key on the shoulder.
"Don't worry though, you are a good fighter and if you got people you can put your back to things will work out well. What was the purpose of going to the temple to begin with? Were you looting it? Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with reclaiming lost goods, but sometimes that can bite you in the ass."

"Ive been working with a group of adventurers. We were hired at the same time by Sobhan Padishah. He sent us to recover a team that had been lost, and their last known location was the temple. We tried to get in without breaking the seal but we did end up shattering a window and cracking the wax. Im confident that we can fight back what ever it is that has or will come from the temple. It would just be nice to know what we are fighting." Key shrugs.

Iliara gets a proud smile on her face, beaming at Key.
"That is a worthy mission, to recover honorable people from horrible fates."
Iliara's smile becomes more serious.
"I am sure you are capable of fighting back whatever it is. I am not familiar at this time with the temple, but I will look into that. You are right, it is important to know. Undoubtably Dunatis is on our side, I am still not sure about Nepthys, that will have to be researched. As for the Mockery and the Devourer, those seem to sound like bad things. Other then the information I will look up for you, is there anything else you need sister?"

“I thank you for all you have done and the time you have taken thus far. I won’t take up any more of your time. I’ll be here for a few days more. Im working on some other weapons training. It’s also so much quieter here than it is in the city.” She bows from the waist in respect to her superior.

Iliara bows back to Key
"You are never a waste of my time sister. If you and your group is interested in the future, I do think I can find your group work guarding either events or people occasionally."
