I have been thiking about such things and wanted to create this thread to discuss our plan and next steps. When replying to this thread please referrence which part of the plan you are referring to, and feel free to add new stuff or disagree with any of the parts listed.
1. The Dark Forest: Jack Tar will be out establishing contacts with his sailor friends trying to get a bead on this pirate captain. I would like to invite the rest of us to journey to Arborlon as my guests of honor to refresh, learn what we can from the Leaf of Elisthal, and spend our hard earned coin during his scouting mission.
2. A Pirates Life: We will need to gather as much intel as we can on this pirate and come up with a good strategy for taking over his ship. In addition, we will need to turn Luke the Redeemed Tiefling into a pirate captain badass.
3. Sun and Sand: None of our characters with maybe the exception of Luke are particularly well-versed with desert survival. We should figure out what we need to survive the long trek to this Temple of Nepthys.
4. Breach and Clear: Great, we have a pirate ship, we have the Key, now what? What is our strategy for closing the gate and surviving the day?

I think Arborlon would be a great place for our side quest since the elves have that book the Leaf of Elisthal. I would also like to see what other information their tomes might have on the Mockery and these other deities since it seems like we might have to fight their avatars soon. Might or might not also be a welcome break from combat (you can never tell) and a chance to do some more social interaction. I'd like to avoid creating too large of an experience gap for Jack. Thoughts?

I was actually thinking if we can get this ship's route we can buy a small boat and intercept them at night. Damage the boat and have Jeyya disguise as a child in peril with a lantern to attract them. The rest of us have water breathing potions and stealthily scale the boat with the rope of climbing while they stop to retrieve their free slave. From there we have several options: A. Wait for the captain in his quarters, subdue him, and have Jayya impersonate him. He may have intel we need. B. Same as above except kill him and say we are taking over the ship. Fight if we need to but try to reason with the crew. C. Take out as many of the crew as we can while they are distracted and hope the rest surrender.

Yeah im actually at a loss here. I say we take the Paladin of Nephthys with us and let him act as guide and tutor in the ways of the desert

I think we can do some cool stuff here. Deliver a shipment of illusioned guards, Trojan style. I think Glorion should actually go in the front door by himself while that is happening to draw off the avatar of The Mockery since a challenge has already been issued.. Once he's drawn off the helpless children suddenly grow a few feet and sprout swords, causing a ruckus while the rest of the party makes a mad dash for the Gate.

I am more than happy to hang with elves, but I do have some concerns about racial tensions as I am a Tiefling.
I can ask around Kokand about Black Mane. We aren't a huge population, so it shouldn't be too hard. We have sent several missives to Jeyya, and she has yet to respond as to whether she will be continuing with the company or not. We might want to make a back up strategy just in case.
My question is actually if we need the whole ship. I know Key wants it, but if Black Mane is just delivering to Elias Langwina in Kokand, then we really only need to end his reign of terror and stop his child slave gathering.
I agree that we should take the Paladin and his donkey with us. We have the same goals, and he seems far more knowledgeable on this subject. I would like to get a second opinion on who he is somehow. Just to make sure he is who he says he is because we met him in a dungeon.
I think this will become a little more clear as we close in on the day in question. I think our strategy depends on if Elias Langwina is doing the actual deliveries, or his procurer, Black Mane is. Either way, we can probably if nothing else mock up a fake delivery. I think that is a great idea to get us in.
Or, you know, we can do what we always do, and just walk in the front door and kill every evil creature on the way, and use the key to close the gate.

Just wanted to pop up and say that Jack will be here on 4/28. Its 5/6 he won't be (and that is the game we may not have).

Just so you know, there is no out of game time table you folks have to follow. There is no pressure to wrap this up in the next couple of games. If you folks decide you want to try a couple of things and come back that is fine. You haven't set off anything that sets the course of events on hard mode

Since it was just three of us last session I figured it would be good to discuss what happened and what our plan going forward is.
Quick Recap: The Langwina manor mysteriously burned down in a tragic fire, killing everyone inside (so sad). An unconscious Langwina given to the Countess (after being grilled for info). She was most pleased and he has disappeared. A flood of peaches was delivered to the Warrens via elephant and are being sold by urchins (more to follow). The hold of the Black Fire is currently filled with all manner of valuable paintings, silverware, and other trade goods. Intelligence was received about several secret entrances into the Temple of Gusi Several minor nobles are in fact involved with the Temple of Gusi, names were "recovered" **NOTE!** Two of Black Mane's lieutenants are presumed to still be alive, along with his evil girlfriend.
Also... Glorion definitely did not almost get his ass kicked by some random Orc guy.... >.>
Next Game: The group has decided to stop off in Arborlon on our way to the desert to gear up and check out the "Leaf of Elisthal" (a tome describing two prior Planar Incursions) We have received intelligence about a possible location for the key in the desert That brings us back to my first post: Unfortunately the paladin will not be accompanying us, as he is staying to ward the temple and deal with anything that escapes in our absence. My people are likely to be clueless when it comes to desert survival, so don't count on any help from them in that regards. Thoughts?

Luke is definitely not versed in Desert survival. We need a guide, and I don't know if we want to hire them now or later.
Also, what happened to Glorion's bard? Did he get sick of us shoving him into the dangerous adventurer zone?

The reason the Bard wasn't there this last time was because I forgot about him when you took the Black Mane, and since you never went back and he couldn't get to you I intentionally didn't have him here this time. Don't worry now that you are back in Kokand he has found you and will follow.

Also the crew are free men now. Should we also give them one share collectively going forward?
In addition i think we should revisit mr. Arvin Alam. Jack will need a bosun and first mate after all.
