The rain has let up, the sounds of wildlife were slowly returning to the forest as the team made their way back to the city with the rescued prisoners and their treasures.

Key shakes the rain out of her hair as she rides up next to Glorian. She takes a deep breath before she speaks, her body visibly relaxing. “So, why did you put your sword away in the middle of a fight? Is that going to be a habit for you?” She leans forward and rests an arm on the pummel of her saddle waiting for a reply.

Glorion chuckles in mild amusement as he regards the other elf. He pauses a moment, seeming contemplative before glancing back at the defanged ghoul in the cart, still struggling weakly against its bonds. He reaches back and touches the hilt of Silivegil reassuringly before responding.
"This sword was a gift from my mother, a peerless weapon forged to represent Corellan's will in this world. It should only be used against worthy foes or named enemies of Corellan. Those creatures..." he points back to the wagon, "they are not Corellan's enemies and were not worthy opponents, as evidenced by how easily we dispatched the lot. Did you perchance notice the crests upon their chests? Those were the remnants of a proud and noble family in dedicated service to a deity of honor." He glances back before shaking his head and turning his piercing blue gaze upon Key. "Never fear my lady, there will be plenty of chances for glory once we uncover the truth behind whatever could turn a noble ally of good into THAT. I only hope that the priests within the city can study this wretch and uncover some of the foul workings behind its creation."
Glorion gazes contemplatively at the road ahead for a few moments before continuing on. "You fight well, Key, in a style I have not seen before, and without armor. It is as if you simply choose not to be present when an enemy strikes for you. We are different, but the same. Both blessed by Corellan with his gifts yet both have walked different paths. How fortuitous that he should guide our meeting in this strange place when such a great evil stirs underfoot. And with such... unique company." With that, he motions up towards Rabbit as she ranges out ahead. "In my land, her people are quite evil, allied with the Spider Queen, who betrayed Our Father out of spite. They commit terrible atrocities on each other and those unsuspecting fools who venture into the Underdark. That is not, of course, to say they are all evil... in fact she is the second of her kind to save my life by putting her own in great personal peril." Glorion gets a sort of far-off smile on his face before gesturing to Luke next. "His kind are descended from an even greater evil. Armies of darkness which scoured the lands and caused untold horrors in the days when our forefathers were but children and the lesser races struggled to survive. Yet he is a priest committed to helping the less fortunate. Jayya, her aura is reminiscent of another Darkness, one which my own people struggle to keep imprisoned within its realm. Not evil per-say, but the antithesis of the light. And yet she has no fear of fire, nor does she shy from the light. And a boy, a mere human barely out of leaves, yet with wild untamed magic that electrifies the very air around him."
Glorion pauses and straightens up in his saddle. "When I first encountered this group I had my doubts. Surely this could not be the destiny Corellan had envisioned for me? To work for an orc with drow, tieflings, and shadowspawn at my side? After recent events I have since come to realize that this is but the first step on a grand quest to further His Glory in such a note as will be left ringing throughout the lands for all eternity. And perhaps, just perhaps, these are the only people capable of seeing that quest through. The world needs us Key. And the world will need my blade, and your fists, and all of the magics and might we can bring to bear for what comes ahead. When that day comes let me assure you, Silivegil will not find much time to rest in her scabbard, and there will be much Honor and Glory to be had by all."

Luke turns a dark black eye towards Glorion, tipping his head just slightly, giving off the effect of pointing his horns at the paladin, "You say evil, but really, I am descended from a cascading patchwork of poor choices and a one night stand that culminated in my birth." He snorts at his own joke.
"Besides, as you have been finding out, you can't tell evil by the stereotypes they tell you at home," Luke says gently.

Key smiles at Luke in understanding, then turns back to Glorian. “You could learn a thing or three from Luke” She sighs heavily and pauses to think for a moment. “Let me approach this a different way. It bothered me that you would quit the fight before it was ended. I understand now why you did it. If I purchased you another sword to use in battle, one that could be used on any enemy without the worry of tarnishing it’s reputation, would you use it?”

Glorion grins back fiercely. "No need! A true Knight is always ready to defend Justice and Honor. A warrior of Corellan needs not his sword to do battle when he has a trusty longbow, and I javelins as well! If it will make you feel better however, I will procure a lesser blade to use in day-to-day conflicts. Perhaps with a shield for better fending off the odd" he winces and rubs his temple "giant club..."

Key throws her head back and laughs. “That was a pretty Glorious battle. You did a number on that Ogre!” Key looks between Glorian and Luke. “Im still a bit fuzzy on what is happening to the temple. Maybe you guys could walk me through it again?”

Glorion nods to Luke before responding "No doubt we can find more information about the specifics of the deities in play within Sekhmet's holy scriptures as I of course only have limited works with me. At first it appeared that this Dunatis and Nephthys might be warring over the remaims of the fallen temple of Itus, but after witnessing what we saw inside I think our initial assessment may have been faulty. Did you see how the temple was sealed? Solid stone covered every door but the main one, which fits well in line with a god of mountains. But delicate lead and gold chains? Intricate spellweaving and antimagic fields? That does not fit. It almost seems that rather than warring, these two disparate deities or their followers might be working together to keep something inside that temple. And the veins of sand running down the side of the mountain, could that signify a slow defeat rather than an expansion? Also, we assume that because this Nephthys is the goddess of death and grief that she causes it, but what death goddess would use undead servants? There are far too many questions. Also there bears the matter of the inscription." Glorion shakes his head. "Have you any thoughts Luke?"

Luke nodded, and said, "I think you are right. I am hoping to go to the temple of Sekhmet when we get to Kokand. They will have more resources than we do, and might have an idea on who to talk to about this. This temple is definitely being corrupted, and needs to be sorted out. I'm not really that familiar with the darker gods, so getting some more insights will be useful. I'm definitely curious about the the ominous inscription we first encountered. I'm not sure exactly who the Mockery, the Devourer, and the Infernal Prince are, but I wish they'd speak plainly." Luke shook his head and snorted.

Glorion shifts in his seat and glances to the rear before leaning forward and speaking low so as to remain out of earshot of the others. "I think there's an issue we should address. We have agreed to take these merchants back to the city in exchange for 1000 gold but what do we do with the rest of these poor commoners? I suppose the sailor will want to rejoin his ship, but what of the mercenaries and the slaves? Perhaps we should stop by the Red Veil as well to see if we can not only pick up additional supplies but arrange suitable lodgings and work for them so as to keep their minds occupied. Also, there is another matter."
He chuckles and points back towards the town and the temple ruins they had just recently exited. "We fought a most glorious battle and raised quite the stir in those ruins, alerting everyone to our most Noble quest. We also broke whatever protective magics were guarding the entrance. We can expect to be much harder pressed on our next foray into the temple. I think that everyone should prepare for that eventuality and contact a local bard when we get back in the event a postmortem ballad is in order."

“I agree, I think taking them to the Red Vail is a good idea. We will not need a bard. We’re not going to die. We’ve all got each other’s backs right?” She looks back and forth between her conpanions.

Luke leans forward, and nods, saying, "I agree in regards to the people that the merchants were going to kill or let die. They should be taken care of. I would feel better if their futures were secured as free men and women." His black eyes narrowed as he looked at the merchants while he spoke.
"I don't know any bards. What could they bring to our party for us? I've just never worked with one," Luke asked.

Rabbit chuckles lightly
"Most bards I traveled with weren't very good at playing, singing or making songs. They only knew how to drink and pick your pockets."
A very sly smile starts crossing her face as she pulls out a flute.
"I could write a song for you if you want"
With that she fluttered a few notes from the flute and with a smile spoke,
"There once was a tiefling from Sweeny Who spilled some gin on his weenie Just to be couth He added vermouth Then slipped his girlfriend a martini"
When she finishes her limerick she winks at Luke.

She looks between her companions with a raised eyebrow.
