Hey folks,
With Jeyya retiring from play your “wizard” type needs may not be met (correct me if I am wrong about Jack Brenden but I assumed he wasn’t that kind of sorcerer).
That being said we can do a few things. 1. Leave the spot vacant and see what happens. 2. Get another player, that however will need to go through a vetting process first. I will need to meet up with them, do coffee or lunch as get a feel before I invite them to game. 3. One of you folks shifts focus and takes the slot or 4. You guys hook up with another NPC.
I am easy with any of those options, but #2 and #4 take some effort on my part so I am asking now so maybe we can get stuff together for that slot ASAP.
Give me your feedback on this.

Would it be a pain in the ass to hook up with an NPC for now. That way we can take our time to look for a new player if thats the direction we want to go in.

NPC is never hard for me, that is always an easy option actually. Finding new people is sometimes (actually most of the time) more stress inducing, trying to figure out if they work with the group, introducing them to the group before they play, etc.
I did change up what I said at the table once. I originally said I might be ok with someone just showing up, but I have thought about past experiences and I think all possible gamers have to be vetted. If possible not just by me but by as many of the group as I can introduce. It is really important to me that I don't introduce new people willy-nilly and upset what I think is a great groove right now.
So that is definitely not a hard thing for me to do (go to an NPC until we figure things out). Anyone else feedback?

correct me if I am wrong about Jack Brenden but I assumed he wasn’t that kind of sorcerer). I don't know what you mean about "that kind of sorcerer." Jack is a Tempest Sorcerer so his spells tend to be chaotic, destructive, and weather related. Not being a ritual caster we do lose the easy use of Identify but I think we can make that up in role playing with the guild and NPC merchants.
That being said I have many other magic user character ideas if we think we would need to pump up the party. Also, I might have a lead on another player if we want, but to be honest I think we've got a good group here and if we use stratag... strateg... Use our heads we will be a great asset to Kokand and the areas around it.

I think I'm with Mr. Jack on that. We can work around our lack of a spellslinger, and we could maybe find a research person to take our research needs to in town.

I was meaning you are more of a power, in your face type sorcerer who burns things down (or in your case uses storm powers) as opposed to the research/study of ritualized magic. We don't need more spellslinger for damage/combat impact, you do absolutely great. I was more meaning dealing with the other stuff, especially research/ritual type stuff.
