Luke's Shack - Copied to Archive

Luke is standing over a small hearth in the small one bedroom apartment. His living space is one of many in this building that seems to spiral upwards, connected by catwalks to the other out of control construction. He is on the ground floor, and the first floor is taller than the rest, so he can stand comfortably with his horns. In all, it's not a bad living space, for the Warrens. He has a full bedroom with a door. His living and kitchen area bleed together, but they are big enough for a small table that he writes at, or eats at. The hearth is warm, and the fire is cozy. He has inexpensive tapestries that echo his religion's roots nailed to the walls. He let's people think it's about Sekhmet, when really it hides the questionable walls behind them. Similarly , his floor has a large furry rug across it, taken in trade for helping some of the locals.

"Come in, he calls," as he stirs the simple soup he was making for dinner.

Luke looks at Rabbit, and nothing good ever comes from that phrase. In his vocation, he hears that in various forms when folks are in distress, so he has his methods. He pulls the swing arm the soup is hanging on, to the side so the soup will keep warm until he is done. He then steps to the small table.

"We can do that. Would you like a drink? I think I still have some ale, or some tea perhaps?" Luke offers, while motioning to the second seat at the table.

"Interrupt? No. I always make enough for more than one. I never know if I am having guests. Nobody knows I'm home quite yet, though. If you prefer, I can open your wive?" he then steps over and puts the flowers quietly in a glass of water and sets them on the table and holds up the bottle.

"But please sit. Let me get you a bowl of soup, and some bread, and we can talk about what you are concerned about."

Luke dishes up two bowls and opens Rabbits wine. He sits her servings down i from of her, taking a seat across from him.

“Well, let me know what’s on your mind. Other than the quality of the soup. I know it’s only passable,” he laughs as he makes the joke.

"Well, that is true. I was hoping to talk to you when we got back, actually. I had to make sure you didn't have a contract because I felt it would be unethical to even consider anything more than friendship while I could influence your reaction to me," Luke explains.

"Let me start then, since I might have done this a time or two," He smiles warmly and takes a sip of the wine she brought.

"I like you. I'd like to be more than friends. I'm not sure if it's the horns or what, but I am terrible about monogamy. I can't do it. I'm not jealous about my partners at all, either, though. If you wanted to try being more than friends, I'd like that. I am good at honesty, and I won't lie to you. I will probably sleep with others on and off, but I'll make sure you know what's happening, and you can join, or hear about it, or not, as is your wish."

Luke holds his breath waiting for her to answer. His inability to have a traditional relationship had always been a bit of an issue.

He adds, "I didn't really talk to Nestrim in too much detail because he is old and jaded, and done this a thousand times. I'm just another notch on his belt. We will never be in a relationship. You however, I like you enough to think we could be more than a casual, if you felt you wanted to test the waters."

Luke smiles. He sets his glass of wine down, and reaches across to her hand. He realizes this is definitely type of relationship for Rabbit, "I just want to make sure that you know, most relationships don't work out for me long term. People get tired of my obsessive observations of my religion, my complete inability to make and keep money, and my desire to live in near squalor. However, if you can deal with that, I am happy to see how this works between us."

Luke raises her hand to his lips, and kisses it before saying, "Well, let's take this slowly, and then you decide if I get annoying or not."
